Collection: Sharon Cook

I like to think that my love of art came from my mother. She used to be a painter on the streets of New Orleans, specializing in portraits. She even won on her float "Too Pooped to Pop" in a Mardi Gras parade.
During the years that I was growing up, she had put away her art. It wasn't until one day in my twenty's that she came across her art supplies, and invited me over to ignite the love for creating art that I never knew I had. She worked with chalk pastels, so this was my first medium. I spent 10 years on pet portraits. Then I branched out trying other mediums, and discovered my love of working with acrylics.
My paintings have alot of meaning. Sometimes I'll add little hidden things, each one a secret meaning. I chose to do scenes that invoke a sense of peace in the viewer. My thought is that, after experiencing so many losses, coupled with the chaos I see in the world around me, the need for peace is overwhelming. So, look at my paintings with renewed eyes, and may each one deliver some peace in your world.
